"I originally left a 5-star review because Sam saved me a significant amount on my homeowner’s insurance premium. Unfortunately, after filing my first ever insurance claim, I learned how that lower premium was achieved.

I first received an online quote and also spoke with a local State Farm agent, but the premium was higher than I wanted to pay, so I decided not to switch. Sam then contacted me and said he might be able to get me a better rate. After I provided my information, he came back with a much lower premium and later emailed me a quote stating he had applied the “corrected discounts.”

I later discovered those “discounts” were actually endorsements that significantly limited my water and roof coverage. Recently my water heater leaked, causing nearly $30k in damages. Because of the water endorsement on my policy, my claim was limited to $5,000. Had those limitations been clearly explained to me, I would have gladly paid the additional premium which I found out is only $227 per year.

In my opinion, insurance agents have an ethical responsibility to clearly explain coverage limitations that materially affect a customer’s protection, especially when those changes are presented as savings. I do not believe that happened in my case.

When I later contacted Sam to ask about the endorsement, I was disappointed by the lack of empathy and the overall response I received.

I’m sharing my experience to hopefully prevent this from happening to anyone else. I don’t think State Farm is bad as a whole but I would be cautious if using this particular branch for your insurance"
